This blend has its origins in the caravans that transported tea from China to Russia along the Silk Road. The smell of smoke from the campfires is said to have carried over to the teas kept nearby. Initially seen as a defect, this developed over time into a characteristic of the caravan teas. Although the teas selected for our blend reached us by sea, they should be in no way inferior to the original: the finest earthy-spicy Yunnan teas are supplemented with sweetish-smoky Keemun and a "splash" of Lapsang Souchong, resulting in a full-bodied, highly aromatic tea Tea with a subtle smoky note.
