The Taylors of Harrogate company was founded in 1886 by Charles Taylor in Harrogate, northwest of York in the North Yorkshire Dales/England. The founder had previously acquired in-depth expertise as a tea buyer in a London tea trading company and wanted to do justice to the versatility of the tea product with his own brand.
Since the company was founded, the top priority has been to process only the best quality teas and to maintain fair, cooperative relationships with tea farmers all over the world. In the founder's opinion, it is only possible to produce teas of the best quality on the basis of long-term and fair supplier relationships. This belief remains the basis of the company's activities to this day, which is still run as an independent family business. The result of this strategy is teas of exceptional quality, produced under the brand names Taylors of Harrogate and Yorkshire Tea. Yorkshire Tea is the most widely consumed tea in Great Britain and enjoys cult status in the motherland of tea.
